Taking a Step Back
Hey there, it’s been a while, right?
You are probably wondering what happened, since my last post was at the beginning of February…
Well, a couple of reasons. I haven’t been feeling all that great these last few months; my motivation to write was at an all-time low since I started this website. I even didn’t keep up with my journaling for a bit. For a few days, I didn’t feel like doing anything; even things I really enjoyed like gaming felt pointless and unsatisfactory. I’m not sure if it was burnout settling in or something else; all I know is that it was a truly dreadful feeling. Luckily I have since come out of it in the last few days, and I’m feeling much better now!
The motivation isn’t fully back yet, but I’m slowly getting back into things. One thing I’ve been thinking a lot about lately after the ordeal is change. I crave it, and I’m slowly changing aspects of my life, like my habits, to accommodate it. And one of those changes is my beloved site. Simply put, I’m not really happy with my current iteration of it anymore. I want to rework the whole thing, not just change a theme, but try other SSGs like Eleventy or Hugo. Or maybe even try my hand at building it from scratch. I want to try new things, learn new things, and reignite that spark I had back when I started. There’s so much cool stuff in the world of web development that I haven’t had a chance to try yet!
So, in the spirit of starting fresh, I decided to archive my old posts and pages and leave this site with one page and one post, which just so happens to be the one you’re reading right now. ;)
When I’m done messing around and finish building the new site to my tastes, I will fully archive this site and its repository, transfer the domain over to the new site, and if everything works out like I expect, we’ll meet again in my new home on the web!
My old posts won’t make the transition right away, since I want to rewrite some of them while I’m at it, and all of them need to be updated to some extent. When I’m happy with them I’ll slowly drop them on the new site. Eventually all of my old posts will be there though!
For now, I hope you have a great day, and we’ll see each other whenever I’m done with this new project! Hopefully sooner rather than later.
